My Marriage and Your Freedom
Today's SPARK asks us each to take responsibility for satisfying our own soul...bringing Freedom into our relationships, our enjoyment of life, and our purposeful work.
Now let me be the first to say, I have not always done that! I have looked to others to satisfy me. But when I do take responsibility for my own deep satisfaction, oh how everything changes for the better.
This message today is directly inspired by this image (and believe it or not, this does relate to your purposeful work!):
We celebrated our 10-year anniversary last weekend at Folly Beach, SC and I reflected a lot on my relationship with my husband and all the growing I have done within our years together. Because we are two very complementary people with a bounty of differences, the health of our relationship depends upon freedom--in my case, the freedom to satisfy my soul. If he did not support my freedom (which thankfully, he always does), our relationship would not work.
As I was reflecting on our relationship further, I realized that there is an important wing-man or wing-woman to Freedom...and that side-kick is 'Personal Responsibility'. Anytime I forget that it is my personal responsibility to satisfy my own soul, and instead I look to my man to satisfy it for me, frustration or discontentment arises. Do you ever think it is someone else's responsibility to satisfy you-- in relationship, in work, in life?

On our Anniversary, I took personal responsibility for satisfying my own soul-- walking on the beach in the morning, singing with the rising sun, talking to myself and the seagulls about my marriage, writing my husband all about what I'm grateful for in our relationship, creating my own ocean release ritual and calling in the next stage of my growth as an empowered partner. And then I showed back up to my husband, completely satisfied, open to however he might want to celebrate the day.
This is what I wrote on that day, that I always want to remember and practice:
"When I take responsibility
for satisfying my own soul,
I can meet my man,
already whole.
And give and receive,
From the overflow."
Now let's bring this message home to your purposeful work and the relationship between you and your business.
